I'm in between Christmas celebrations and I'm bored.  LOL  Saw this meme and figured why not.  I know Christmas is technically over, but I'm getting most of my gifts tomorrow, so I can still technically wish for things for Christmas.  LOL  None of these are in any kind of order.

The West Wing ~ the ep in which a homeless vet dies on a park bench, wearing a coat Toby donated to the GoodWill. Moving throughout, it is the closing sequence that broke me and had me crying my eyes out, even though I've seen the episode several times before.

Oh West Wing, how I miss you.

Last year my Christmas tree came with a stand on it already. But as I was unpacking my decorations I saw one of those old-fashioned screw-in ones. You know, the ones that are so hard to get a tree into?

I picked up my tree the day before yesterday. No stand on it when I bought it, but I figured to stop at Lowes and get one of those new-fangled ones that hold 16 gallons of water and easily accept the trunk of the tree. Except Lowes didn't have any. Neither did WalMart.

No worries. I dug out my decoration boxes again and guess what? You got it! It looks like, for the first time in a score of years (at least) I threw something out last year ~ THE TREE STAND!

Yikes and oh shite!

Dear Tree,
Could I persuade you to sit up nice and tall in a sheet rock pail full of water throughout the next month? Not to wobble and fall. Not to have some disagreement between you and the electric lights, causing fire and possibly loss of life?
I would deeply appreciate your consideration.
Sincerely,

So, I had this bag of Hershey's Mint Kisses that I was going to divide up between 3 packages that I was sending out, you know, kisses scattered about inside the box. But I did up the first two, got them taped up and addressed only to find out that I'd forgotten the kisses! Damn!

Friends One and Two - your loss. So sorry. Friend Three - lucky you! You get the whole bag! YaY!

Except I had to go out of the house today for the first time in DAYS *gives Evil Eye to Hohoho fic-from-hell* and when I got home it was to be greeted by Zeke (one of my Blue Heelers) doing that funny wag-the-tale-while-looking-incredibly-guilty doggie thing. At his feet was the Hershey's Mint Kisses bag, torn asunder and empty as hell.

And not one speck of shiny green and silver striped aluminum foil anywhere in the house...

:\

Oh...Fuuuuuuuuuuuuudge. I can't leave you kids alone for one minute..... :(

For once, Thank You, LJ

How many times have I cursed the time-consuming "search/category" boxes that were the bane of LJ search? Type in a name, go to a second box, choose from a drop down (in which the Site & Username resided in the smack-dab middle), click on your choice, hit Enter or Search.

Pain in the ass, much?

Now it's merely type in what you're looking for and Enter. It's a miracle!

Thank you, for once, LJ.

I got the sweetest Christmas gift tonight and just had to share.  A group of friends and I do a Secret Santa swap every year.  We decided this year to do things that didn't cost any money seeing as money is so tight for so many this year.  So, we had to tell what our favorite musicians, tv characters, poets, etc were.  My Santa made me some beautiful graphics and I just had to show them off. :D  Thanks again Jas if you read this.  I LOVE them!  Love that she combined my favortie actor and poet I think it works well.  Also love that she combined my fav tv couple and my fav singer. :D  And finally of course I love Dessie all wrapped up and ready to open.  Hee!

Can any of you creative types rec a free program for making multi-pic composites? Simple, for I am a Luddite and easily frustrated with stuff like this - but needs must and I'd really like to know how.

Please and thank you!

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, apparently based on The Looking Glass Wars is shaping up to be the best union of Burton, Carter and Depp yet. Can't wait til March, when Alice returns to Wonderland and takes us along for the ride.

Thanks to [info]geekmama for the head's up!

I love a warm pig belly for my aching feet.

Just realized I hadn't done this yet.  So here we go...

November Favorites

Movies

I love all the Charlie Brown movies, but this one is so funny.  This scene is my fav part of the movie.  Love the toast and popcorn dinner.  LOL

Love this movie and just watched it again on DVD.  Everybody connected with this movie did an awesome job!  Now if JJ would only return for the final season of Lost. :P

Television

Top Chef Las Vegas came to a close and my fav Chef Michael Voltaggio won!!

I so love this show and these guys!  They are the final tv show ship I have.  Now this is technicaly cheating cause this episode didn't air until last night but the Christmas episode was too adorable.  The little pecks on the cheek and you just have to believe...I believe...makes me think they may give them another go.  I hope so anyway.

NCIS Los Angeles - Love this one too.  Not as much as the original, but the cast has quickly grown on me.

Songs

Whenever I try to link to the songs, it gets all screwed up, so I'll just list them.
Cary Brothers - "Ride"
Cary Brothers - "Blue Eyes"
Ingrid Michaelson - "You and I"
Allie Moss - "Corner"
Bess Rogers - "Travel Back"
Greg Laswell - "High and Low" - this song guts me every time I hear it, yet I LOVE it
Weezer - "Island in the Sun"
Greg Holden - "Bar on A"

Albums

Cary Brother - "Who You Are"

Allie Moss - "Passerby"

Bess Rogers - Travel Back

People

Before November I really had no idea who any of these people were except for Ingrid.  Her and Greg Laswell's concert introduced me to all of them and now I am a fan of all of their music together and individualy.

Elliott Jacobson plays drums for various people including Ingrid.  He also has a healthy musician blog with different healthy options and ideas.  Have to admit I've snagged a few from him.  He also posts the most hillarious behind the scenes YouTube videos from Ingrid's tour!! (Harry Potter shots, dizzying sound check, why Elliott sucks at drums..heh)  Can't wait until he gets his "EPIC" one uploaded.  LOL  I asked him when it was going to be finished via Twitter and he promised soon, so....  Oh and Lisa - he's from Houston!

Dan Romer is Ingrid's producer as well as jack of all trades.  He plays various instruments, sings a duet with her, and even plays the baritone (quite horribly I might add :P)

Greg Holden is a born and bred Brit who recently moved to NY.  He's an absolute doll and a great singer.  He's so good to his fans!  But he needs to get "Bar on A" on iTunes so I can have it on my iPod and don't have to keep watching it on YouTube.  LOL

Chris Kuffner plays bass for various people including Ingrid.  He is a Lost freak and very funny guy.

Bess Rogers plays guitar for Ingrid as well as having her own solo career.  Great voice, love her spunky attitude and her hillarious videos of behind the scenes stuff.  Especially the grape vid that she and Ingrid did.

Allie Moss plays guitar for Ingrid and sings with her as well as having her own solo career.  She's so very pretty and seems so sweet.  I love ot hear her sing.  She also posts hillarious vids of behind the scenes stuff.  Although watch out for the very gross ear cleaning vid.  LOL  [info]shawcrossedlove  and I learned to heed Allie's warnings about stuff being gross the hard way. :P

Cary Brothers - beautiful voice and awesome songs - he's from Nashville so that gets him bonus points ;) If you haven't listened to him, give him a shot.  I love soooo many of his songs!  Oh and he's not bad looking either. *G*

When you see this, quote Leo McGarry

StolenBorrowed without permission from [info]cynthia_arrow who borrows without permissionfollows in the footsteps of [info]slybrunette in the long-held tradition of quoting dear Leo from The West Wing on today, December 16. How long-held is the tradition? I dunno. What are it's origins? Dunno that either, but I loved Leo, and this seems fine to me!

Leo: We spent millions of dollars developing a pen that could write in space. Do you know what the Russians did?
Josh: Used a pencil?
Leo: Used a pencil.

This is no great Leo quote, but it is a Leo quote, so it fills the bill. To see a couple of classics, visit the LJ's of the ladies mentioned above. [info]cynthia_arrow quotes one of my all time favorites - The Big Block of Cheese exchange.
